About the archive

Source, frame, variation.

Seeded Forms is an independent generative shader archive: a set of compact image systems and an open instrument for examining them.

Method

Each work is a complete fragment shader. Resolution, time, the pointer, the last press, and a numeric seed are its only inputs. The browser compiles the source and draws a full-screen triangle; every visible pixel is calculated by the shader. A stateful work, such as Coral Script, also reads its own previous step from a pair of buffers on the graphics card.

Seeds

Every work is a family rather than a single image. The catalogue shows one curated seed; Reseed draws another, and the address bar keeps it so a particular variation can be revisited or shared. Seeds are hashed with integer arithmetic, so the same number produces the same work on any device.

Open instrument

The playground is intentionally local. It has no account, submission form, server-side compiler, paste service, or public submission gallery. A visitor may edit a shader, export a frame, a video clip or a looping GIF or APNG, and keep the result without transferring the source to this archive. Loops are rendered frame by frame at a fixed rate and encoded by a background worker on the visitor's device.

Durability

The site uses no analytics, cookies, advertising, remote fonts, third-party scripts, or external media. The catalogue, shaders, editor, and runtime are static files that can be read without a build service.
